LEONARDO DA VINCI CREATED THE SHROUD OF TURIN!

Leonardo, The Man Behind the Shroud, now available for purchase through the author or publisher, details and proves the process by which Leonardo da Vinci created the Shroud of Turin. The author, Rena F. LaCaria, used the master’s methods to recreate the Shroud and gives the step-by-step process in the book to prove her claims.

In 2002, her findings and methods were researched by the Smithsonian Institution. A copy of the book is now available for scholarly research and review at the Library of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, in Washington, D.C. This book was ten years in the writing, and three years in publication.

Leonardo made anatomical drawings based on his studies of cadavers. He measured everything, calculating proportions of the human figure. He was a mathematician, engineer and scientist, in addition to an artist and sculptor. He believed in the nature of origin and based his entire life on this theory. He studied dozens of cadavers and used his anatomical drawings to create his works of art, including the Shroud of Turin.

Of the 356 pages in the book, 320+ pages contain photos of Leonardo’s work and information relative to his life and times. By illustrations, Ms LaCaria shows how da Vinci created many of the masterpieces that are shown throughout the book. Also included is a replica of the Mona Lisa by the author. Many Shrouds were created during the Renaissance era. Why Leonardo created his Shroud is uncertain. He may have been commissioned; it may be a work of devotion for his faith; or he may have done it just because he could.

The following points are factual:

  • Two thousand years ago, linen was composed of a plain weave. For the Shroud of Turin, the cloth is made of a three-to-one blend that did not exist before the 14th century. The Shroud of Turin has been carbon dated to be approximately 600 years old.
  • Scientific research has concluded that a chemical composition of starch and sugar is on the cloth. Leonardo commonly used starch and sugar on cloth in creating his inventions, when linen was applied, for various reasons. There is no trace on blood on the cloth.
  • The shroud contains significant traces of oil paint, Vermilion and Alizarin Red pigments.
  • The historical Christ was reported to be around 5' 5" or 5’ 8” tall. The cloth called the Shroud of Turin is 14’ 3” long. There are 7 to 8 inches between the top of the head of the frontal image and the top of the head of the back image. The figure was almost 7' tall.
  • The face on the Shroud is “Proportions of the Face,” a mechanical drawing by Leonardo da Vinci, displaying the anatomical breakdown of the head.
  • The Shroud as a burial cloth does not agree with Biblical text. Hebrew burial practices at the time used narrow strips of cloth, along with herbs and oils, and a single napkin-sized cloth, called a Shekel, was laid over the face.

This book, Leonardo: The Man Behind the Shroud, proves its allegations in terms the average person can understand. Detailed images accompany explanations with da Vinci's math and quotes taken from his personal notes placed at the bottom of many pages. One thing is certain: The Shroud of Turin is not the burial cloth of Christ. The Shroud is authentic – it is an authentic da Vinci!

Ms. LaCaria is a well-known artist and portrait painter for celebrities and heads of state who has studied the masters in depth. The author and publisher are available to answer questions about the material contained in the book. Click here to purchase your copy.
